On Resolution 2334 – From “finest hour” to “perfidious Albion”
By David Semple
The United Nations began as an Anglo-American military alliance against the genocidal Nazi regime. Today, too many United Nations member states, a growing and powerful minority, represent the same totalitarian and genocidal policies that Britain and America fought against in the 1940s.
UN policy towards Israel resembles the same fanatical persecution of the Jewish people which was carried out by the Third Reich.
The Obama Administration and the British Government actively collaborated with the Palestinian Authority in drafting this resolution. The United States abstained in the Security Council vote on Resolution 2334, while Britain, instead of voting against, voted for the resolution.
Resolution 2334 contradicts Security Council Resolution 242, which calls for negotiation of “secure and recognized boundaries.” The Oslo accords calls these territories gained by Israel in the Six Day War disputed land and not occupied land.
Jewish settlements in the so-called West Bank and east Jerusalem are legal under the Mandate of Palestine 1922, which governs international law.
The UN Security Council, under the duplicitous leadership of Great Britain and the United States, has condoned a racist Arab policy which calls for a Palestinian state to be Jew-free.
British and American collaboration with the authoritarian Palestinian Authority against democratic Israel in the passing of Resolution 2334 is completely contradictory to the pro-freedom agenda of Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt in the Atlantic Charter and the original United Nations.
UK and US collaboration with the Arabs against Israel contradicts the pro-freedom agenda of Churchill and Roosevelt in the Atlantic Charter and the original UN.
The United Nations Security Council voted last month to prioritize the agenda of Palestinian jihad against Israel. Forget Syria. Forget Iran’s breach of the terms of its deal with America, China, Russia and the Europeans. The United Nations has come fully out of the closet. The Security Council, in particular Britain and the United States, support the creation of the State of Palestine, a fictional twenty-third Arab nation invented by international terrorist Yasser Arafat.
Most Europeans and Americans still think that all the problems of the Middle East will disappear once Israel surrenders Judea-Samaria and much of Jerusalem. Unfortunately, this is precisely when the Muslim jihad against the West will go into full swing. A Palestinian Muslim state will be the springboard for more terrorism against Israel and the West. If you think that ISIS is bad, wait until you see the horrors that arise out of the conquest of Israel by Palestinian jihadis. Yasser Arafat, Abu Mazen and the Muslim Brotherhood have created the most extreme version of Islamic jihad on the planet inside their fake Palestinian entity. The Palestinians are the most radicalized people in the Muslim world.
The UN Security Council voted to support the PLO’s terror campaign against the only free democracy in the Middle East. Palestine is the PLO, an Islamic terrorist organization that has operated throughout the Middle East over the last fifty years to destabilize not only Israel, but also Jordan and Lebanon. All the problems in Syria, Israel and Jordan, which have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, were made worse by Arafat’s attempts to spread Muslim jihad throughout the region.
Betrayal of the Atlantic Charter
How then did this United Nations of democracies, which defeated the most evil regime in human history in 1945, turn into the organization that today is falling under the influence of third-world dictatorships and Muslim-dominated theocracies?
The UN is a child of the Atlantic Charter, which was signed by the United States and Britain in August 1941 (before America formally entered the war). The Charter, which declared a set of principles regarding the governance of nations in opposition to the savagery of the Nazi war against Western civilization, went on to became the most important declaration of international principles of governance in the 20th century.
In other words, the UN began as an alliance of democracies against the greatest tyranny in world history, Nazi Germany, whose allies included the Muslim Brotherhood and the Palestinian Arabs. The PLO is the successor organization to the Palestinian Arab terrorist gangs which rose up against British rule in Mandate Palestine in the late 1930s under the leadership of Hitler’s Mufti, Haj Amin al-Husseini. Tragically, the UN has embraced the tactics and ambitions of the PLO. In fact, it openly courted the leader of the PLO, Yasser Arafat, during the 1970s and now lauds Abu Mazen as a partner for peace.
Resentment of Israel
The growing prosperity and military security of Israel helped fuel the resentment of the Arabs who saw Jewish autonomy in the Middle East as the biggest defeat of fourteen hundred years of Arab imperialism. Unable to attack Israel militarily, Israel’s enemies have chosen the UN as a vehicle through which to destroy the Jewish homeland. And they have chosen the Islamist organizations of the PLO, the Palestinian Authority and the Muslim Brotherhood/Hamas as their frontline troops. By promoting the Palestinian Arabs, Israel’s enemies hope that the creation of a “Palestinian” Muslim state within Israel will lead to the final annihilation of the Jewish state.
For the Europeans, Israel is a reminder of the European genocide of several million unarmed Jews in concentration camps and ghettos. Today’s Europeans are tired of facing the guilt that their ancestors brought upon the world. They want to forget Hitler and the Holocaust. Israel’s success story, which accompanies the failure of the postwar European dream of building a New Rome in the form of the European Union, is an embarrassment for the children of the generation which lived under, and collaborated with, the Nazi occupation. To the Europeans, who have embraced post-nationalism and multiculturalism as their new ideology, the strong independent Israel of the 21st century is a threat to everything the new post-Europeans believe in.
America and perfidious Albion
But what about the United States and Great Britain, the nations which gave us the Atlantic Charter and helped Russia defeat the Nazi tyranny? Why did the Obama Administration and Theresa May’s Conservative government betray Israel last month by supporting UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which called the Old City of Jerusalem “occupied Palestinian land”?
We already know that Barack Obama is a globalist who despises American exceptionalism and American patriotism. His contempt for Benjamin Netanyahu has dictated his policy towards Israel for the past eight years. Obama used activists in Israel to try to defeat the Netanyahu government during the Israeli elections two years ago. When Abu Mazen pulled out of peace talks with Israel three years ago, Obama blamed the Israelis and did nothing to criticize the Fatah leader. In fact Obama has done nothing but praise the Palestinian Authority’s terrorist leader since he assumed office.
We must not be surprised by Obama’s betrayal of Israel on Resolution 2334. Obama’s active participation in engineering the resolution is no surprise. He did it to undermine both Israel and President-Elect Trump. Having created a distance between Washington and Jerusalem, Obama wants to undermine his successor’s ability to repair the damage he created in the relationship between Israel and the United States.
This underhanded British collaboration with the United States and the Palestinian Authority in preparing Resolution 2334 calls into question the whole moral clarity of Theresa May’s foreign policy. This is indeed a low point not seen from a British government since the days of Clement Attlee’s collaboration with Jordan’s war against Israel in the 1940s or Neville Chamberlain’s betrayal of the Balfour Declaration upon the issuing of the Palestine White Paper of 1939.
Previous to this Theresa May had promoted herself as a strong supporter of Israel during her first year in No 10 Downing Street. In a speech to the Conservative Friends of Israel in December, Mrs May was fulsome in her praise of Israel and boasted of her success as Home Secretary in keeping out the prominent French anti-Semite Dieudonné and finally deporting the Salafist cleric Abu Qatada al-Filistini back to his native Jordan.
However, she also used the opportunity to congratulate herself for banning Pamela Geller, Robert Spencer and Pastor Terry Jones from coming to the UK. “Islamophobia comes from the same wellspring of hatred” as anti-Semitism, she explained.
This is nonsense of course. Equating Islamist hate preachers who incite terrorism against the West and with critics of Islamic fundamentalism is nonsensical. Winston Churchill was an outspoken critic of Islamic fundamentalism in his lifetime, but I doubt today the greatest Englishman of the 20th century would be welcome in Mrs May’s “New Labour-style” Conservative Party, which has buried its head in the sands as Islamic terrorists have openly declared war on our Judeo-Christian civilization.
Theresa May, it seems, no longer believes in the right of the British people to criticize Islam. She calls criticism of Islam hate speech. Why? Because she is catering to Britain’s millions of Muslim voters, ten times the size of the Jewish vote.
Moreover, May showed her ignorance of international law when she condemned, and called for an end to, Jewish house building in east Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria.
Why has the British Prime Minister said this? Because she is following the orders of her civil servants in the Foreign Office. Because she does not have a mind of her own. Because she is a weak political leader, much as were David Cameron, Gordon Brown, Tony Blair and John Major. All have claimed to be friends of Israel. And all have followed the Foreign Office line that all the land won by Israel in the Six-Day War belongs to the Arabs.
But the British Foreign Office does not rule the country and make up foreign policy. The elected politicians rule the country and make up foreign policy. Would Winston Churchill and David Lloyd George have followed the orders of unelected civil servants? No, because they were true leaders.
But Mrs May is not a true leader. Her knowledge of Middle Eastern politics and the Oslo Accords, wherein the West Bank is disputed territory, is obviously non-existent. Perhaps the UK needs a prime minister with some knowledge of international affairs instead of the morally compromised Mrs May. But ignorance is no excuse. Mrs May obviously wants the PLO to take over the West Bank in a two-state deal that will empower terrorism and lead to the destruction of Israel. Thus, it is hypocritical of the prime minister to call herself a friend of Israel when her government’s long-term policy will create a totalitarian Muslim Palestinian state where Jews are not allowed.
According to Barak Ravid on Sean Hannity’s show on Fox News, “British legal figures and diplomats had been working directly with the Palestinians on the wording of the resolution even before it was distributed by Egypt the first time on Wednesday.” British diplomats, including UN Representative Matthew Rycroft, worked very hard to make sure Resolution 2334 passed. Senior British political sources told the Jewish Chronicle, it was “in effect a British resolution by the time it reached the Security Council.” Westminster sources went on to tell the JC that the “British adoption of the resolution was part of a new strategy towards Israel by Mrs May, who believes Israel’s friends must make their opposition to settlements clearer if they are to carry any weight with the Palestinians.”
Mrs May certainly made her point loud and clear. Britain has declared, for all the world to hear, that it is now illegal for Jews to live in east Jerusalem, including the Old City, and to pray at the Western Wall, the holiest site in Judaism. So much for Resolution 242, so much for the Oslo Accords and so much for the security of the State of Israel. Britain and the United States want a Palestinian Muslim state in all the territory illegally occupied by Jordan between 1949 and 1967.
Mrs May’s decision to allow British Ambassador Matthew Rycroft to vote for Resolution 2334, and thus support President Obama’s insidious policy towards Israel, represents an all-time low point in British foreign policy. Contrast this with the Atlantic Charter and the United Nation’s war against Nazism. Today, Britain and the United States have chosen to support the Nazi Islamists of the PLO against the only state in the Middle East where Jews and Christians can live without being persecuted.
Mrs May must be careful what she wishes for – because thousands of Palestinian Islamists are planning to head to the West over the next few years to carry out jihad in Britain and Europe. If Mrs May’s much desired Palestinian state is created inside Israel it will make the War on Terror even harder to win.
